The Fear of the LORD

We learn from the book of Proverbs some of the benefits that result from the fear of the LORD. For some, that journey kicked off with Women Empowerment groups.

Amito Pauline and Ataro Nighty are two beneficiaries of the Women Empowerment teaching. They both share about how those teachings brought them from fear of man to fear of God and boldly sharing the Gospel.

Nighty told us about the problems she had been having with her children. Of her 10 children, 3 are unmarried. Family strife was fueled by stubbornness and waywardness from the LORD.

Then Nighty grew spiritually from the Women Empowerment group teachings.

Nighty learned how to counsel her children and admonish them in the fear of the LORD and they began praying together every evening. She shared that this has brought love and unity at home that wasn't there before. Nighty also testified that she has so far led two people to Jesus and who are now attending church services with her. Praise be to God!

"But Peter and the apostles replied, 'We must obey God rather than any human authority'" (Acts 5:29, NLT).

Pauline testified that she used to be a very fearful woman. She even feared to discuss issues with her own husband in the house. What's more, her husband disallowed her from attending church services.

"Through the project teaching, I began to approach my husband in love [and] reach out to win souls," Pauline said. The fear had disappeared. "My husband was getting mad and I began to come with him to attend emotional healing sessions."

Through the Trauma Counseling sessions they attended together, Pauline's husband received healing and his heart is transformed now! Their relationship has been restored and he has allowed her more freedom to be part of the church.

Pauline gives glory to God for all of this, and so do we for all of the goodness He pours out on those who fear Him!

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight" (Proverbs 9:10, ESV).
"Fear of the Lord is a life-giving fountain; it offers escape from the snares of death" (Proverbs 14:27, NLT).
"The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and humility comes before honor" (Proverbs 15:33, ESV).
"The fear of the Lord leads to life; then one rests content, untouched by trouble" (Proverbs 19:23, NIV).
